Kleio - Happy During Last Weeks with Mesothelioma
After a six week battle against Mesothelioma, we had Kleio put to sleep on Wednesday November 16, 2005. On Tuesday we took her in to get x-rays as follow-up to her heart surgery. The x-rays showed a large amount of fluid build up around her lungs. Though the fluid was excessive, it was not enough that we saw any signs or that was causing her any uncomfortableness. However, it was clear that the cancer was hard at work inside her and that the fluid would only increase and cause her more and more discomfort and difficulty breathing as time went on. After a long night, we made the decision to have Kleio put down before she started experiencing any more symptoms of her illness. After a morning of playing with Stella and Riley, the vet came at 1 p.m. to put her down. She fell asleep on my lap in her spot on the futon where she always sleeps. It was incredibly peaceful and we are grateful for every last moment we had with her. She was able to meet Griffin (our second son born on October 8, 2005) and that is something I wanted very much. Kleio will be taken to a crematorium where she will be cremated by herself and come back to us so that she can be scattered in Maine over Thanksgiving break.
This has been incredibly difficult for all of us but we are glad that Kleio is at peace now and we are grateful that we were able to have six wonderful weeks with her that we would not have had if we had not opted for the surgery and found Robert McDowell's herbal remedies on the internet. We are even more grateful for the six and a half years that she was a devoted friend, she will be greatly missed. She was our first baby that we dragged everywhere including a five week cross-country trip in a VW Jetta...she was a trooper. Our veterinarian was shocked to find as much fluid in her lungs as she did because Kleio's attitude was so positive.
