DOES THE SUN CAUSE MELANOMA IN LIGHT-COLORED HORSES ?

The following is an excerpt from Robert's reply to a question brought up by a website visitor, Ginny.

Hi,
Could someone tell me the cause of Melanoma cancer in horses? My horse has had it for 4 years now (he's a gray). Everyone I talk with at the barn say its from the sun. I find this hard to believe.
Is it from the sun?
Thank you, Ginny

Robert's reply:

Hi Ginny,

All cancers really are caused by a breakdown in the immune system. If you think about it, the body makes millions of new cells every day and some of them are imperfect. The job of, what I call the bottom end of the immune system, checks all the new cells out and digests all the imperfect ones.

A cancer arises when this system fails to work effectively. (the house keeper cant keep up the amount of housework)

The cause of all cancers then becomes anything which compromises the immunity. In the modern horse's world, this can be the chemicals in feed and in worming pastes and on pasture and in the air and water. All these things put a load on the immunity. All bodily processes and circumstances and exercise, also create work for the housekeeper. So does exposure to the sun and the ultra violet rays.

A cancer develops when the total of the workload on the immune system is bigger than its capacity to keep up with the job. So the sun is a factor and so are the radio waves passing through his body on the way from the radio station to your house.

My herbal treatment program for Melanoma is found on my website at; http://herbal-treatments.com.au/horse_skin_melanoma.html .

In this combination of internal and external treatments, I have combined herbs which support the immune system in numerous ways and others which specifically target the sorts of changes which occur to allow Melanoma.

I have great results using this approach.

Yours truly,

Robert McDowell
