Herbal Help for Humans and their Companions

Aphrodisiacs and Onions

An aphrodisiac is a food, drink, drug or scent that can arouse or increase sexual desire, or libido. A broader definition includes products that improve sexual performance. Named after Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of sexual love and beauty, the list of supposed sexual stimulants includes anchovies, onions and adrenaline, liqcorice and lard, scallops and Spanish fly and hundreds of other items.

Alcohol is actually a depressant, and so, as the porter in Shakespeare's Macbeth observed, it "provokes the desire, but it takes away the performance." Dinking too much may just make you sleepy and remove any desire.

Onions were considered potent aphrodisiacs by the Greeks and also the Romans made much use of them. In his “De re Coquinaria” Apicius recommended eating them boiled mixed with pine kernels.

In the his famous “Perfumed Garden” written in the XVI century, Sheik al Nefzawi writes of the portentous virtues of this simple vegetable giving a few recipes but counselling moderation as its effects could be too lasting, bringing embarrassment.

Onions, a common ingredient in almost all cuisines, have been used for thousands of years as an aphrodisiac. Onions are recommended in both ancient Hindu and Arabic texts on the art of making love. In France, newlyweds were served onion soup the day after their wedding to restore sexual vigor, and Egyptian priests abstained from onions because of their lusty reputation.

On an entirely different level Onions contain sulphur and biotin and act as a road sweeper in our body, removing fungus, putrifying material and infections while stimulating digestive juices.

Check the website below for some great ideas.

Heres an Example:-

Get Cooking Food, sex and romance have been linked for centuries. Every meal is a chance to cherish your mate and express your sensuality. Cooking is a lot like making love. You use all of the same senses: smell, touch, taste and sight. Cooking and eating, like making love, are pleasurable, fun experiences that ignite the flame of romance. When you cook for someone you are nurturing them at their most basic level; you are providing sustenance for their body. When you make love the two of you are providing sustenance for your souls. Couple's who cook together stay together. Candlelight, romantic music and good food always add up to amour.

Soupe a l'oignon gratinee-Onion Soup

Brown the onion rings in the butter in a non stick pan. Keep the heat low and stir often so they do not stick.

Pour some stock on top and a grating of Gruyère cheese and repeat three times adding butter to the last layer.

This week we feature:-

Canine - Bad Breath.

Have you ever been embarrassed by friends complaining about your much loved dogs breath? The best thing for bad breath that I know is a raw meat and bones diet and a course of blood cleanser to clear accumulated toxins from the blood. They have to have bones to clean their teeth and raw meat to keep their metabolism working properly. Our Blood cleanser should do the rest.

Equine - Wind Sucking

Wind sucking is the aspiration of air, done by the horse arching its neck and sucking in air. Some horses do this while holding onto something with their teeth; others do it unaided. It results in a grunting type of noise. The horse learns to gulp down air simply by creating a vacuum in the mouth.

The vast majority of horses that wind suck suffer no adverse effects at all. If the habit is severe the muscles on the underside of the neck,( which the horse contracts when it arches its neck) may get bigger and this might be regarded as unsightly.

You can purchase a wind sucking collar from your local Horse products supplier.

Put "stop crib" on timber surfaces to discourage chewing.

Put this horse with other horses for company, keeping in mind that it is a habit that can be passed on to other young impressionable horses so with older horses is a better option.

If its by itself give it a large ball to kick around.

In the meantime start the horse on Rosehips & Chamomile tea these will calm & condition the sensitive gut. See link for preparation.

Use the teas to dampen the feed twice daily.

You may about running an electric or hot wire around the top of the posts, this will discourage without poisoning him.

If you are not getting positive results with the Chamomile tea you may need to treat with my nervous rehab mix see link;

It may also be worthwhile to add Slippery elm powder to the diet just to rule out Ulcers or similar gut distress.

You can source this locally & just dose 1/3 of a cup mixed with the cold chamomile tea to a slurry & add to feed 1 x daily.

Rescue remedy squirted onto the feed or direct into the mouth will also assist in making positive changes to his behaviour.

Human - On-Line Consultations and How They Work.

I work with my partner Cath who is a Reiki Therapist and Spiritual Healer, and between us we come up with a written report, herbal program and other explanations and recommendations as to how you maybe able to get the vitality, personal power and joy back into your life.

You may like to check the link below.
http://www.herbal-treatment.net/herbal_treatment_consultation.html

If the information you have provided is clear and concise we will work our way through it including drawing conclusions about some of the likely underlying and predisposing factors or experiences which may have led you to this point.

On the basis of this we will email you a written report and make up a herbal formula for posting out along with a hard copy of the report.

I will be looking for you to reflect on the understandings and suggestions made in the report. After the first 4 weeks on the program I ask that you send a follow-up report on progress and on your reflections. This will allow the program to be refined at that stage to continue the work.

Within the first four weeks you may go up and down a little but you should have very clear indications of progress by then if you take up the challenge, stick to the program and make the changes I suggest.

Home Remedies - Aromatherapy for PMS and Menopausal Symptoms

Bergomot Essential Oil
- Anti depressant Delicious fresh and invigorating citrus fragrance has an uplifting effect on the emotions. Therapautically calms the nervous system and promotes appetite.

Bergamot is a good oil to diffuse as a room freshener, because almost everyone likes it. It is calming and euphoric both at once. It can be used for anxiety, anger, frustration and depression.
It stimulates digestion by increasing energy in the liver, stomach, and spleen.

Bergamot has a light, delicate, citrisy and floral scent. It is cold expressed from the peel of a small, pear shaped citrus fruit grown in southern Italy.

Bergamot contains furo-coumarin, which makes the skin sensitive to sunlight. Do not use before sunbathing, dilute properly for massage and skin care, using no more than 20 drops to 4 oz of massage oil.

Geranium - Balancing Effect

Geranium has a penetrating sweet floral scent. It is restorative and relaxing with a strong strengthening effect while soothing to the mind and body.

Geranium can be used for inflammation with its mild, soothing effect. The action on the nervous system is pronounced, being a sedative with uplifting characteristics. It stimulates the adrenal cortex and can be used to balance the production of androgens during menopause.

This uplifting oil has a great all-over balancing effect and this extends to the skin - where it helps to create balance between oily and dry skin, emotions - where it helps to relieve feelings of stress and anxiety, and the hormone system.

Happy Collie

I have been using the collie nose external treatment for 4 weeks now and have already noticed a huge improvement with my border collies nose. When she came to live with me she had already lost a third of the pad off her nose and suffered from small black growths (like warts) from time to time , these were worse in the strong heat of summer . I usually apply it twice daily. Already it seems like the nose pad has regrown considerably and she no longer gets the nasty black growths.
Thankyou to all those who come up with the magical mixes.

Susan
