Herbal Help for Humans and their Companions

Anthroposophy, Rudolf Steiner and Cancer

Where cancer is concerned, he felt that there are various organizing forces that result in degrees of chaos or order.

Cancer can be many things - disease, destiny, opportunity, life drama or tragedy, a biographical turning point. But it is always a biological process and part of life.

This week we feature:-

Canine - Gum disease

Gum disease in dogs is usually due to poor dental hygiene the same as in humans. The number 1 reason for gum disease is reliance on tinned dog food & biscuits. We clean our teeth with a toothbrush & the dog cleans its teeth with bones. Gum disease begins with the formation of plaque, a sticky film of bacteria that forms in the mouth at the gum line.

Plaque hardens into tartar which harms the gums causing them to become red and swollen, known as gingivitis.

If left untreated, gingivitis will lead to gum and peridontal disease. This can lead to infections of the bone that hold the teeth in place, resulting in loss of bone, which can cause the teeth to fall out.

The infection can also travel into the blood & cause further problems. Prevention is much better then cure for gum disease. Chemo can have side effects on the gum so if your dog is on chemotherapy please discuss this with your vet. The gums & teeth need to be cleaned by your Vet & any diseased teeth removed. The Vet will decide how to do this. You will need to follow up with the raw & natural diet as recommended in previous email. There are products on the market like doggy toothpaste discuss with vet. I recommend that you start dosing with Colloidal silver 10mls 2x a day to treat the infection also Maritime Pine Bark. The human gargle description will be difficult to implement.

Equine - Spraying due to over excitement

The spraying is really all about excitement where the adrenals glands are pumping so hard they are affecting the kidneys and ultimately the bladder sphincter. Much as a person may wet themselves if they get a sudden shock. It is all about adrenalin.

If there is no penalty in the competitions for spraying, just an annoyance, I would not be doing anything radical to try to correct it.

The three major herbal tonics to strengthen the adrenal system are Borage, Liquorice and Rosehips. You should be able to source Rosehips Granules and make up a herb tea to be used for dampening feed by putting two dessertspoons of the granules in a pint of boiling water and using this to dampen feed morning and evening.

This should also improve endurance and performance.

Human - Menopausal Weight Loss

Unfortunately at this age, it seems as if our bodies put on weight with out us even trying.
We lose muscle mass due to a change in hormone balance, and as muscle tissue is active at burning up the calories we end up with a slower metabolism.

So , the outcome is that we have to actually eat fewer overall calories to compensate as well as regular exercise.
Less carbs and fats is helpful but don't exclude the low GI carbs.

  • So keep up the exercise and diet regime. (limit carbonated drinks, coffee, sugar, alcohol).

  • A ground mix of millet and linseed (1 tablespoon on your cereal daily) will keep up your calcium and silica levels necessary for bone and joints.

  • Regularly using sea kelp (you can buy it granulated) assists metabolism.Sprinkle it on salads, casseroles etc or eat seaweed with japanese food.

  • I recommend the hormonal menopausal mix see:-

  • Chaste berry can rebalance your estrogen and progesterone levels.
