Feline - The Ideal Raw Cat Food Diet Made with Real Bones

2 kg [4.4 pounds] raw muscle meat with bones (chicken thighs and drumsticks or, better, a whole carcass of rabbit or chicken amounting to 2 kg; if you don't use a whole carcass, opt for dark meat like thighs and drumsticks from chicken or turkey)

400 grams [14 oz] raw heart, ideally from the same animal (if no heart is available, substitute with 4000 mg Taurine)

200 grams [7 oz] raw liver, ideally from the same animal (if you can't find appropriate liver, you can substitute 40,000 IU of Vitamin A and 1600 IU of Vitamin D--but try to use real liver)

NOTE: If you cannot find the heart or liver and decide to substitute with the Taurine/Vitamin A and D, then remember to REPLACE the missing amount of organ meat with the equivalent amount of muscle meat.

16 oz [2 cups] water

4 raw egg yolks (use eggs from free-range, antibiotic-free chickens if you can)

4 capsules raw glandular supplement, such as, multigland supplement by Immoplex)

4000 mg salmon oil (see note at bottom of recipe*)

800 IU Vitamin E ("dry E" works well)

200 mg Vitamin B complex

(optional: 1/4 tsp. kelp and 1/4 tsp of dulse (1/2 tsp total)

(optional: 4 tsp. psyllium husk powder (8 tsp. if using whole psyllium husks; see note at bottom of recipe**)

NOTE: If you are freezing the food for more than a week or two it is also not a bad idea to sprinkle extra Taurine from a capsule on the food as you're serving it two or three times a week, just to be certain your cat is getting plenty of this critical amino acid.

1. Remove the skin from the muscle meat. Cut up as much of the muscle meat (minus most of the skin if using chicken or turkey, but leave skin on if using rabbit) as you can into bite-sized pieces. Save the cut up meat for later. Do not grind it.

2. Grind up the raw liver, any skin, raw meaty bones, and raw heart. Once ground, stir this meat/bone mixture well and return to refrigerator.

3. Fill a bowl with 2 cups of water and whisk everything (non-meat) except the psyllium. If you had to replace liver with Vitamin A/D or replace heart with Taurine, add the substitutes now. Add psyllium at the end--if you're using it-- and mix well. Finally, put the three mixtures together--the "supplement slurry" that you have just mixed, the ground up meat/bone/organs, and the chunks of meat that you cut up by hand. Portion into containers and freeze.

Cats like their food at something approximating "mouse body temperature."

* Every two or three days, I suggest sprinkling a few drops of fresh salmon oil from a newly-opened capsule on to the cats' food. The Essential Fatty Acids in salmon oil are extremely fragile, and since we do not know exactly how much gets lost during freezing, I think it's wise to use a bit of fresh salmon oil directly on the food a few times a week. Most cats love the flavour.

** Not all cats require additional fibre (psyllium) in their diet. If your cat has been eating low-quality commercial food for several years, especially dry food, she may have lost bowel elasticity and may benefit from the extra fiber. As a general rule, I recommend using psyllium when an adult cat first gets raw food. Bear in mind that some cats seem to get constipated without additional fiber, whereas other cats seem to get constipated if they get too much fiber. Each cat is unique, and you'll have to judge what works best for your cat

Canine - Weaning pups and Mastitis

If you haven't started weaning the puppies then your bitch will still be producing milk.

Begin introducing the puppies to soft moist foods that are easily digested. Try minced meat, rolled oats porridge, rice, cooked veggies but definitely no dairy products.

In the early stages of weaning it is important to remember that the bitch's milk is still an important source of nutrients while the puppies' digestive and immune systems learn to handle new food. With a quick increase of the intake of food and decrease in suckling, puppies are normally weaned by 6 weeks.

For mastitis get some castor oil, separate the bitch from the pups, massage into teats twice daily and remove it for suckling. Do not allow the puppies to suckle while the castor oil is on the teats as it will give them diahorrea.

Continue until all symptoms are clear.

The castor oil will stimulate circulation and the removal of toxins and waste that is causing the mastitis. It is also inexpensive and very efficient, with no side-effects.

I recommend you start a bitch with mastitis on a mix of blood cleansers to clear the system of any build up of toxins, link attached;

Equine - Racing Preparation for a Young Horse

All young horses beginning work need to have their structure protected as a first priority (ligaments and bones) as well as their kidneys and adrenals, the physical and metabolic/nervous system stresses associated with breaking and racing training show up in these areas first. This can be the beginning of ongoing problems that often ultimately cost the young horse their racing career.

Our tendon and bone healing and maturity herbal supplement is well worth using as a routine up through the first preparation and racing campaign.

See: http://www.herbal-treatments.com.au/horse_tendon_bone_healing.html

This offers insurance against the development of structural problems. This supplement does not swab and may be given every day including race days.

In the areas of Kidneys and Adrenals I recommend giving no salt supplements and giving instead two daily doses of Rosehip Tea made up and used to dampen down feed.

See:
http://www.herbal-treatments.com.au/horse_rosehips_granules.html

Stress and the abuse of electrolytes and salt are the two primary reasons horses suffer from tying up and ultimately kidney and adrenal problems.

These two simple and inexpensive practices with all new young horses improve their viability many times over

Human - Emotional Health and Bach Flowers

If you are in a situation where your emotional health is abused for then this will cause you to feel dis-at-ease or disease will manifest within the body.

Unhealthy relationships are often at the core of women's ill health.

People with good emotional health are aware of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. They have learned healthy ways to cope with the stress and problems that are a normal part of life. They feel good about themselves and have healthy relationships.

People with poor emotional health do not feel good about them selves and eventually suffer unhealthy relationships and ill health.

Your body responds to the way you think, feel and act. This is often called the "mind/body connection." When you are stressed, anxious or upset, your body tries to tell you that something isn't right. For example, high blood pressure or a stomach ulcer might develop after a particularly stressful event. When you are feeling stressed, anxious or upset, you may not take care of your health as well as you should.

Poor emotional health can weaken your body's immune system, making you more likely to get colds and other infections during emotionally difficult times.

In fact chronic stress and emotional ill heath can lead to more serious and life threatening diseases.

We always make a careful selection of Bach Flowers to go with our herbal mixes to assist the emotions and psyche underlying the physical conditions of each patient.

The original Bach Flower Essences is a system of 38 Flower Essences that corrects emotional imbalances: replacing negative emotions with positive.

Bach Flowers are vibrational Medicine that gently encourages and supports our body's natural ability to 'heal' itself, to return to a state of wholeness. Flower Remedies, or Flower Essences are made from the flowers' early morning dew energised by the sun.

All living things - People , Pets and Plants - respond well to Flower Remedies.

Home Remedies - Morning Sickness

Morning sickness often occurs because of low blood sugar, build up of increased hormonal activity, a vitamin B6 deficiency (which may cause low blood sugar problems), Other causes of morning sickness may include diet and emotional factors. Strong smells and certain foods can trigger nausea, so avoid these if you can

To relieve this problem, take ginger first thing in the morning and repeat at the first hint of nausea during the day.

Nutrition: Eat small frequent meals with complex carbohydrates. Avoid high fat and junk foods. Eat a protein rich snack before you go to bed. Low blood sugar in the morning can cause morning sickness so eat something before you get out of bed. Drink plenty of liquids and remember that it may be easier to drink a nutritious broth for some of your meals. Take B complex vitamins, especially vitamin B6.

Adequate protein will help balance blood sugar levels. Make sure you have some protein before going to sleep each night.

  • Walking at least a mile a day in the fresh air, if weather permits, is a wonderful way to get your circulation going and to get rid of the hormonal by- products
  • Adjust your diet. Stick with small, bland meals and clear fluids. Keep some light crackers by the bed to munch on - an empty stomach increases nausea.
  • Increase your vitamin B intake. Vitamin B-6 supplements have been shown to decrease the intensity of nausea and can be found in most drugstores.
  • A Herbal mixtures may include alfalfa /ginger/ sage/ st marys , fennel , raspberry and chamomile are some herbs that can be mixed in tea to help relieve morning sickness. Mimulus and Scleranthus.

    Aromatherapy-citrus oils-grapefruit orange etc

Ginger:- Many pregnant women report relief from morning sickness when they snack on dry toast or crackers immediately after rising and eat small, frequent meals during the day. In addition, here are the herbs that can help.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale). Ginger treats treats motion sickness, a closely related stomach-upsetting condition and dizziness . This chapter lists other remedies for morning sickness, but in my opinion, ginger still ranks number one. I'd suggest up to two cups of ginger tea a day will assist most people.

Peppermint owes its medicinal value to menthol, a cooling, anesthetic stomach soother. Just don't drink large amounts of strong peppermint tea, as some herbals warn that large amounts may trigger miscarriage. If my niece wanted to use peppermint tea, no more than a cup or two at a time.

Cabbage (Brassica oleracea). Yes raw or cooked cabbage, cabbage juice and/or sauerkraut are old-time remedies for stomach distress. Sauerkraut juice in particular is reportedly soothing to the overactive intestines that contribute to morning sickness.

Raspberry leaves has been widely recommended for curbing the nausea of morning sickness. The tea has a persistent reputation as a treatment for women's conditions, from menstrual cramps to morning sickness and labor pains.

Raspberry leaf is said to contain a constituent, readily extracted with hot water, that relaxes the smooth muscles of the uterus. I'd suggest drinking up to three cups a day. Or combine it with Try Ginger, mint and a little lemon for a very pleasant anti-queasiness tea.

Make your own juice with Citrus fruits, a little piece of grapefruit, orange or tangerine rind added to beverage teas has been reported to help relieve morning sickness.

Juices. Those who have juicing machines might consider a combination of ginger, kiwi, mint and pineapple; apple, carrot and ginger; or apple, fennel, ginger and peppermint or spearmint. And what better way to banish this problem than with a healthy, tasty juice.
