Herbal Help for Humans and their Companions

AUTUMN

The leaves falling from the trees and rotting into the Earth are a reflection of the God's journey deep into the womb of the Earth. The Autumn Equinox marks the completion of the harvest, and thanks giving, with the emphasis on the future return of that abundance.

The Eleusinian mysteries took place at this time, during which the initiate was said to have been shown a single ear of grain with the words "In silence is the seed of wisdom gained". Another aspect of these mysteries was "Know thyself" which seems appropriate for the coming months. During the Winter months energy levels drop and the Autumn Equinox is the time to ready ourselves, to look at our "harvest" of accomplishments, to refine and redefine our intentions.

This week we feature:-

Feline - UTI

I have a 15 year old male cat that has nervousness and urine tract irritation constantly. He used to get it every couple of months, but in the last year it is almost every day. He is on Elavil (cat prozac), Predizone(cortizone) and Atopica every day. He seems to be in constant pain and urinates blood all over the house. When he is not sleeping, he is peeing every couple of minutes. The vet gives me pain killers to give him, but says there is really nothing to do about it. Any Suggestions?
This sort of condition is really an indication of the new age of antibiotic resistant infections which are now crossing species lines.

You need advice and a herbal treatment to assist your cats immunity and redevelop her ability to throw off infections itself.

The difficulty with cats is that they must be introduced carefully to strange tastes or they will reject you forever as they are not as accepting as dogs etc.

My mixture shown on:
http://www.herbal-treatments.com/cat_cystitis.html
contains the herbs she needs to rehabilitate the urinary tract and clear the infection and Bleeding. Give her one drop of this mixed in favourite food or drink twice a day and after she has gotten used to the taste increase to 2 drops per dose until you are up to 5 drops twice daily. Take it easy and don't rush too much or we are in real trouble.

After she has gotten to 5 drops start to reduce her other medications one at a time and try to figure out how to get her to get some rosehips tea into her and how to introduce a tiny amount of pulverised fresh garlic into the feeds.

The next step is to introduce the Kidney Weakness treatment again slowly so she is on both treatments.

See:
http://www.herbal-treatments.com/cat_kidney_weakness.html

If you can manage this over the next few weeks she will be able to get on top of the infection and regain the health of her urinary tract completely sop she will never have another kidney or bladder infection or damage.

Canine - Farewell Chopper

Dear Dr. McDowell, George and all staff:

Chopper I am sad to inform you that Chopper has passed on after fighting Lymphoma for 4 1/2 years. I am happy that he is no longer suffering as he was suffering for the last week or so before his death. I took him to the vet about a month ago and she stated that she also believes that he is a miracle dog and she conceded (many vets do not believe in the Holistic approach) that your herbs have worked wonders in his life.

Chopper was the strongest and most persistent dog ever (of course I am biased). I think you should make him the Poster Child for your herbs! As noted in an earlier e-mail, I will miss the days of taking him to the bank for treats, every day that I cooked and he parked himself in front of the stove (I had to work around him), the days he greeted me (and my husband) at the door with a shoe, a pillow, a large blanket in his mouth or even his own pet bed and every wet doggy kiss he ever gave us! God Bless Chopper for being a very special part of our lives.

Dogs become a constant in our lives and when we lose a special one - boy does it hurt. Without the herbs, I would not have had the constant of nearly thirteen years with a wonderful little companion! Thanks again and God Bless.

Equine - Swollen Legs

The symptoms of swollen legs point to the horse fighting some sort of infection in the body. The swelling legs indicate that the lymphatic system is not working as well as it should.

1: As this type of swelling is due to an upset in the lymphatic system usually brought on by an infection of some kind, I recommend the Blood Cleanser. This will also boost the immunity:

2: Along with the Hoof Oil mix. This is a powerful herbal blend that will promote circulation in the lower limb, it is found at:
http://www.herbal-treatments.com/horse_hoof_oil.html

3: I recommend that you also add some Fenugreek tea into the feed. This tea will help to support the Lymphatic system. Simply mix 2 dessert spoons to 1 Litre boiling water, cool and mix in 1/2 AM feed the rest PM feed every day.

4: Twice daily give a dose of cold Rosehip Tea made by soaking a 1/4 cup of Rosehip Granules in a pint of boiling water and leaving it until cold. When cold, the tea (grounds and all), is used to dampen down dried feed in the morning and evening.

Human - Endometriosis

This is a not uncommon condition found in the 20-35 year age group

1. Important to work out stress by some form of yoga or meditation or diaphragmatic breathing, to assist with any emotional problems.

2. Become involved in creative activities such as joining a gardening or book club, painting or pottery class. Getting out and involved can be very therapeutic.

3. Walk/exercise at least 4 times a week for 30 minutes. Walking and enjoying nature can be very uplifting and help put life in perspective.

4. Emotional issues are associated with most of human illness and diseases so I urge you to take up some form of energetic healing or Reiki to address this side of your life.

5. I recommend 2 tablespoons of flaxseed oil daily, if you aren't already taking a fish oil supplement.

6. Castor oil packs are also very helpful in treating endometriosis. No one can explain exactly how they work, but experience has shown that they often make the difference between the success of a natural treatment and its failure. ¼ cup Castor Oil plus 6 drops lavender essential oil , Soft cloth .Combine lavender essential oil and castor Oil . Soak cloth in this mixture, then fold it and place it in a baking dish in a 350°F oven for about 20 minutes-it should be quite warm, but not uncomfortably so. Place the folded cloth directly over the afflicted area and cover it with a towel to keep it warm. (A hot water bottle on top of this also works well.) Use the pack once a day for 30 to 60 minutes. Rinse off the oil after each application.

When suffering from endometriosis, it is important for you to rebalance hormones, assist the liver , reduce the bleeding, inflammation, muscle cramps and pain that generally accompany this disorder.

The mix I suggest includes the herbs:- Phytolacca, Chaste Tree, Cramp Bark, Ginger, Equisetum, Liquorice and Wild Yam along with the Bach Flower Remedies Walnut, Mimulus, Willow and Impatiens.

This mix is taken for at least 6 menstrual cycles. You have to be prepared to invest this amount of time. The mix may need to be altered as you progress.

Home Remedies - Herbs to Repel Fleas

Rosemary Oil
A herbal flea dip can be made from 5 ml (1 tsp) dried rosemary, or 15 ml fresh, in 600 ml of boiling water. Steep for 10 mins, strain, leave to cool before using.

Peppermint Oil
Peppermint oil is a great repellent against fleas. If your cat is infested with fleas, use 5-10 drops of peppermint oil in a 5 litre bucket of warm water and use a flea-comb to comb your cat's fur. Each time dip the comb in the peppermint water before combing the cat's coat. The potent smell of peppermint will help to repel the fleas for about a week or so. Repeat this procedure each week for about 2-4 weeks and you'll be rid of the little offenders.

Pennyroyal oil
Pennyroyal is a potent oil that will naturally help to break the flea breeding cycle. DO NOT USE IF YOUR CAT IS PREGNANT. Follow the same technique as described above. You can mix both these oils together for a more all-round effect.
