You are here: Home > FAQs > Herbal Replacement for Cortisone - Skin Allergies

: I am looking for a substitute solution. My Alaskan malamute is a 5yr old desexed bitch. She has suffered all her life from acute allergies to grasses and plants. These were all tested for when she was about 8mths old. She has since been on a constant course of antibiotics and macrolone tablets(cortizone). This has affected her immune system and her calcium levels. Her teeth are starting to wear down and her muscles and bones often seem quite stiff. These tablets although having a long term negative effect on her have provided her relief from her consition and without them she would have had to have been euthenaised very young. I am after a solution to enable her to stop using the cortizone so that she will perhaps have a few more good years. She has also been tested for food allergies as well and has always been on a natural diet of chicken frames, meaty bones and minced vegies. Can you suggest a different course of treatment?

The history of irritation and allergies you describe is an indication of an accumulating blood toxicity problem, where the body stores toxins it is unable to clear from the blood under skin causing it to become itchy, reactive in an allergic way to substances and conditions which shouldn't bother it and otherwise uncomfortable.

The diet you have your girl on is ideal.

I would therefore recommend the following treatments to cover all bases as continuing with steroids, as you have done in the past, is fraught with problems as you now know.

1. My Canine Conditioning Mix to make sure all the systems within the metabolism are working smoothly and in harmony.

2. My Blood Cleanser Mix should reduce the irritation on the skin itself.

3. A bone healing treatment which I will change specifically to assist in reversing the effects of prolonged exposure to Cortisone.

This program covers all aspects of the problem and the history to date and will insure against further problems while giving your malamute the best shot at getting back to normal.

These mixes may be found on:
http://www.herbal-treatments.com.au/dog_skin_blood_cleanser.html
http://www.herbal-treatments.com.au/dog_conditioning_mix.html
http://www.herbal-treatments.com/dog_bone_healing_maturity.html

and ordered from the order button on the bottom of any of the mixes.

If you do decide to go ahead make sure and specify in the comment section of the order form that the Bone Healing mix is to reverse the degeneration caused by long term Cortisone treatment.

10 drops of each of these three medications may be added directly to a favourite food and it is best to start out with one drop of each and then build up slowly over a week so as not to put your dog off with the first dose.

I look forward to helping you get everything back to normal.

Yours truly,

Robert McDowell
